Practical Vegan?

9781257584857_p0_v1_s192x300Guys I’m obsessed with my new book it’s called “Practical Vegan”im not actually a vegan but im very interested in maybe becoming one & I’ve started researching all about it. Veganism seems like a journey, a lifestyle, a philosophy and It may seem like a very hard one, which I guess it is, I havent eaten red meat for 3 years of my life and I have to confess there’s been times when ive eaten jam or stuff I have actually liked. And its hard because its your body, your life, your health of mind. So the thought it’s always there and I can’t help it anymore doesn’t matter what it is I always regret it immediately. So choosing to be vegan is way I’ve been avoiding. I think im almost ready. Becoming Vegan seems a little like a lot of crap for some people and maybe it is. But when you chose in your mind something you can’t change it, you just become it and you cant help it. This book has helped me a lot to understand into vegan people minds, reasoning and dedication to this great lifestyle.

So if you’re looking to get a little more information into a Vegan person’s world and lifestyle, I recommend Practical Vegan its a great and realistic diary book.

Love, Pilar.

Think green, think ORGANIC.

F*ck GMO’S!

maxresdefaultGuys I’ve become obsessed with GMOs, I’m a real Netflix & chill fan and I also love to research everything that concerns food, your health or weird interesting things. I think I’m a little late to this tale but I’m sure many of you don’t even know what this is.

Well here I am to explain to you what GMOs are, where they are and how you can avoid them the most you can.

What is a GMO?

A GMO, or genetically modified organism, is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified using recombinant DNA methods (also called gene splicing), gene modification or transgenic technology. This relatively new science creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.”  what-is-a-gmo

I know it sound very confusing but it is what is, it’s a food that you put in your body which has been genetically modified so we can say it’s not actually “natural”or original. I also thought that when my food was organic it also came with a natural origin, but in fact what it is and how it is grown are two separate stories. What it is can be a natural being or modified seed or animal and How it is grown can be organic or with pesticides. So what now? Food that’s organic doesn’t automatically mean it is GMO free, there’s lots of food that are GMO free but not organic. So how can we combine both? It’s a hard thing I have to say but I think you have to try to find both in the things that you eat the MOST. And those things that are sometimes hard to find organic you can at least find them GMO free.

gmo_tomato

Genetic modification its something that affects many of the products that we consume daily, it doesn’t matter if they are organic. So be on the look out guys, its important to know what we put in our bodies and to have the right to know whether they have been modified from its DNA or not.

Happy Non GMO month!!

I’m back!!

Hey it’s me and i’m back!

colors_of_our_hearts__by_lifelikesuicide-d4bl3lnI’d like to come back with this new controversial subject that has been tickling my mind the past weeks and months I may say. Who we are          (big pause)

I know no one likes to say it out loud but i’ll say it, im a very open minded kind of person. I like and TRY specially to like and care about people for who they are and what positives vibes they bring me and NOT for what they look, believe or rule their life by. It’s a very hard think to do I have to say, it’s a daily process, learning to love, respect and try to understand all of those who don’t think like I do. Those who don’t appreciate life however it comes. I just wanna send this to the world, to the space, to the cosmic stars. LIVE & LET LIVE. LOVE IS LOVE you guys, trust me. Nothing else matters but happiness.

BE HAPPY, LOVE AND LEARN. BE WHO YOU ARE, IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT BE Your truly unique special and none like other self.

PEACE OUT

, Lots of love

Tips for keeping your ORGANIC routine!

Getting through the week is hard when you are busy whether it is with school, work or whatever you do. Its very easy to get behind your organic diet & keep it outside your house, so what are the tips?

  • First of all you’ve got to relax, if you eat something thats not organic once in a while it wont kill you. (believe me!)

  • Find organic snacks you can take anywhere (this is a very practical tip). Buy lots of snacks like granola bars, dry fruit packages, fruit pudding or anything thats size friendly on your bags or purses.

  • When you go partying, this is the hardest, not lots of places have organic alcohol drinks so I recomend this: if youre going out & you have a really strict organic diet drink at home. Read below on Organic Drinks for some organic alcohol drinks or how to make your own.

  • Sometimes in the week you get bored of your water, healthy smoothies or organic shakes so make some organic juices to take everywhere or to drink at home. Read on Organic Drinks for some homemade drinks.

ORGANIC DETOX!

White_Roses_Heart_Decor_PNG_Clipart_PictureHoping everyone has started their detox this week, as I am, here’s a little more info about detoxing your body and why it’s such a healthy thing to do specially after the holidays.

Good luck, Think Green, Think Organic!!

Why Detoxify?

Here are just a few indications that you need to detoxify:

  • You get the idea. Basically, any health problem means the body is toxic. There is only one disease, and that is cell malfunction. There are only two causes, nutrition deficiencies and toxicity. And the two go hand-in-hand.
  • Headaches
  • Skin issues
  • Allergies (any and all)
  • Muscle soreness (not from working out)
  • Getting sick more than once every few years
  • Sluggish and groggy waking up
  • Vision loss
  • Hair loss
  • Body odor
  • Yeast infections (athlete’s foot is a yeast infection, too)
  • Arthritis
  • Slow healing
  • Digestive issues
  • Cavities
  • Trouble focusing
  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
  • Back pain
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Joint pain
  • Kidney stones
  • Canker sores

New Year’s Organic Detox!!

After the holidays we all need a mentally and physically detox

So this are my tips for a new year’s restart:

Physically

  • Organic detox tea

This is a larger commitment for your body you gotta take your tea 4-5 times a day, eat healthy (I’m not a nutritionist or an expert on health but I highly recommend you don’t stop eating just to do it healthier while on the detox) try some gluten free stuff they really stop the cravings.

  • Get to the gym right this moment

While on the detox I don’t recommend your ordinary rutine if its a hardcore one, but a lighter one with some cardio is perfect, don’t push too hard on yourself because you’re weak

Mentally

  • List your priorities

New Year goals

Changing your daily routine

Learning a new language or a new sport

Take a time to renew your and cleanse your inside vibes

Edamame snacks!

I’m not a big cook, but this is one of my favorite healthy snacks (and of the only ones I know how to cook LOL). This is a step to step of how to make your edamames for a healthy treat after lunch, at nigth or anytime your hungry.

What do you need?

  • Frozen edamames, you can buy this at any chinese food store or organic market. I actually just know two places where you can get it: there’s Gourmet Center zona 10 & the chinese store which name I don’t remember at Cayala! Take note: this veggie is often hard to find in a regular store.
  • Some salt
  • & Soy sauce (if you like it)

How to cook them?

ORGANIC FASHION!

I’m in love with this new cruelty free, eco-faux leather, vegetable dyedand organic cotton lining new bag line by Nikki Reed. I never really like to speak out about anyone if I don’t really believe in their projects or ideals. But I actually admire a lot of famous or influential people that use their connection to the world to help the animals and the environment.

pink-heart-hiSo let’s see, why organic clothes?

Take note guys

Organic cotton is grown and processed without toxic chemicals that can be absorbed easily when in contact with the user’s skin. Pesticides, fertilizers and chemicals used to grow and process conventional cotton fabrics may go directly to the users blood stream, which consequently affect’s the body’s organs and tissues.

Besides the naturally soft organic cotton fabric is a lot more comfortable to use and is available at competitive prices.

  • It takes about one-third of a pound of pesticides and fertilizers to grow enough non-organic cotton for just one T-shirt.
  • Non-organic cotton uses more insecticides than any other crop.
  • Conventional cotton cultivation is alone responsible for consumption of more than fifteen percent of the world’s total production of pesticides.
